The Purple Butterfly Party

I receive immeasurable joy throughout the year photographing my client’s family moments. Everything from little wrinkly newborns just home from the hospital to first smiles, first steps, every day cuddles and laughter with beloved family members and special once-in-a-lifetime gatherings. Mike and I were thrilled to celebrate a major milestone for our own family last weekend when our daughter, Eloise, turned one. Since Ellie’s first favorite toy was a sparkly purple butterfly, we went all out with the pink and purple decorations. (We will just ignore the fact that Eloise has since abandoned said sparkly purple butterfly and now seems to prefer orange and yellow as her favorite colors.) I may or may not have been channeling the pink and purple My Little Pony birthday party that my mom and dad threw me when I was little when I first dreamed up this theme months and months ago. I don’t think our home has ever looked happier than it did last Saturday morning. Filled with pink and purple balloons, family and friends, butterfly cookies and, of course, our little darling, crawling around in a huge purple tutu…it just doesn’t get any better than that. Our hearts were filled to the brim and we can’t thank everyone enough, both at the party and those who sent love from far away, for celebrating sweet Eloise with us. Many, many thanks, too, to our friend Brad who surprised us by bringing his camera to the party and captured so many sweet moments that we were too busy (playing, laughing, stuffing our faces with cupcakes) to snap ourselves. Some of the below images are Brad’s, some were taken by me and Mike, and we are excited to share them all, a little slice of our life, with you.

I love this post so much! In the second-to-last picture she looks like she is singing! What a perfect first birthday party! 🙂

It looks beautiful! Eloise is one lucky little lady to be surrounded by so much love! 🙂
