Colby and Alexandra

It took three tries to schedule this session. (Which, for this year, isn’t that out of the ordinary!) First, there was a freak marathon street closing that blocked our way into Northerly Island (and Chase’s way out, unfortunately!) Then the kids were both sick with brutal summer colds. But last Friday morning, we finally got our chance to meet up and capture some fun memories together. And man, was it worth the wait. Even though most of the nature area on Northerly Island has been bulldozed (SO SAD!), it’s still such an interesting backdrop. The beach is always amazing and deserted and the skyline view from the museum campus is gorgeous. Colby and Alexandra both did such a fantastic job smiling for me. It was so great to catch up with you four again. Thanks for sticking with me, Stefanie and Chase!

Tamim, Insiyah and Mustafa

Abbas first contacted me months and months ago, wanting to purchase a gift card for a family session as a gift for his wife. They had never had family photos taken before and Abbas wanted to surprise Nisreen. I thought that was extremely sweet and couldn’t wait to meet this family. We had such a great time last week. Twins Tamim and Insiyah and little brother Mustafa did a great job during their first ever photo shoot. They gave me tons of laughing smiles and showed off their mad skills at the playground. It was so nice to meet you, Nisreen and Abbas. I hope you enjoy the photos for years to come.

Jack and Abby

I always love spending time with Jack and Abby. They are such happy, accommodating kids and so much fun to photograph. Amy…what a wonderful idea to shoot at Millard Park and Ravine Beach! I had never been there before and it’s just incredible. The winding path through the woods, the gazebo, the bridge and the secret garden all overlooking that incredible beach…just amazing. The perfect backdrop for your sweet family. It was great seeing you and Joe again…take care!

Danielle and Ryan’s Wedding

It couldn’t have been a more perfect day for a sweeter couple. Mike and I don’t take on very many weddings these days. The timing and charisma have to align exactly for us to make it work. As soon as we met Danielle and Ryan, we got really excited about getting to know them better and felt honored when they chose us to document their big day. We knew their wedding was going to be incredible, and it was, right down to the very last carefully thought-out detail. Danielle built so many personal winks into their wedding day: making sure to take photos on the porch swing she used to sit on as a little girl; the photos of loved-ones she had dangling from her bouquet; the adorable flower rings she made for all of her best girlfriends to include them in the festivities and thank them for their friendship; the beer toast in honor of her late father at the end of their ceremony. I had never been to CD&ME Special Events and Banquets before. Wow, is it stunning. The Loft space where dinner and dancing was held was outstanding, the gazebo where the ceremony took place was romantic, and the two patio spaces with fire pits and outdoor bars for guests to lounge in later in the evening were simply charming. Individually, Danielle and Ryan are two of the nicest people we’ve ever met, and together they are just extraordinary. They radiate happiness and their day was filled with joy and laughter, hugs, smiles and well-wishes. Congratulations again, Danielle and Ryan. We wish you all the best.

I wanted to do something a little different and special for this sneak peek…I hope you enjoy the slideshow. Mike and I can’t wait for our post-wedding sailing portrait session next month!

Dear Jen and Mike,

Thank you both for the sneak peak and especially for your comments regarding Danielle and Ryan. It seemed as though all the stars were in alignment that evening! The weather, the setting, the ceremony and the dinner, not to forget the little details all made it a very special event. Danielle truly glowed and Ryan was the happiest and most relaxed I’ve seen him. You did a great job of catching our son as he is, not looking posed. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the pictures! Enjoy your sail on Vytis next month!

Jen and Mike,
I can’t stop playing this beautiful video and reading your lovely blog about our day. This perfectly summarizes the day’s celebration…and makes me smile all over again. Thank you for being a part of day and capturing our memories to amazingly!

Evangeline

It was supposed to rain last Thursday morning, but we went for it anyway. You know what a sucker I am for an overcast sky. Baby Evangeline…so, so darling. What a sweetheart. All smiles and so accommodating to three crazy, on-the-go wardrobe changes. The four of us explored Welles Park and Lincoln Square and were just heading back home under the train tracks when Alison and Luke off-handedly mentioned they met on the L. So, we waited for the next train to come by and did what, of course, we had to do to wrap up a killer session. I had so much fun, Alison and Luke…thanks for a wonderful time!
