William the big boy

Suffice it to say that my life had suddenly turned into a frantic comedy of errors right before I was supposed to meet Angela, Brian and William. I was nervous and sweaty and in disbelief by the time I rolled into Montrose Harbor, 45 minutes late. For those of you who know me…this kind of thing doesn’t happen to me very often, if ever.  I hate being late and the thought of making this family, who I have had so much fun with over the past several months, documenting their darling baby boy, sit and wait made me want to cry. Then William saved the day. First of all…I truly can’t believe the changes that have taken place since I last saw him. Wow! He’s like a different kid, crawling everywhere and pulling up…I would be willing to bet he’s walking in no time! He was full of smiles and totally rocked his photos. Darling William…thank you so very much for that. You’re the best. And I can’t thank you enough, Angela and Brian, for your patience and understanding. So glad you stuck it out with me!

Gabe and Sloane

Last week, I had so much fun going all around the neighborhood with my new friends Gabe and Sloane. They both did a fantastic job during their photo session and gave me their best top model looks. It was nice to meet you, Jennifer and Jon! Thanks for spending a fun morning with me.

ONE

It’s admittedly getting harder for Mike and I to take our own family photos. Our tripod and remote weren’t going to be any match for the candid family moments I had my heart set on capturing to mark Eloise’s first birthday.  So Mike and I asked our friend (and brilliant photographer) Ingrid of Ingrid Bonne Photography to lend us a hand. Since the view from our labor and delivery suite one year ago had been a gorgeous panorama of Lake Michigan, I really wanted to incorporate the lake and skyline into these shots. Of course, it rained. For the first time in at least a week. Pretty much all day. Starting just as we parked downtown to head over to Ohio Street Beach and Olive Park. Luckily, the storm worked it’s way down to a light drizzle for a good half hour. Just as we were forlornly heading back home to shoot there. Just long enough to change plans and pull over to Montrose Harbor and have Ing work her magic. And that she did. Ingrid…you’re brilliant. These photos are exactly what I dreamed of and we just can’t thank you enough for making Ellie’s first birthday even more special. We had such a blast with you and will treasure these memories always.

As an aside, I had a completely different song picked out for this slideshow. But Eloise heard this one and started bouncing around and smiling…so this one’s “for you,” baby girl.

Meet Tate

I was so excited to catch up with this sweet family last weekend. Not only did my buddy, Tanner, get so big since the last time I saw him, but he now has a new little brother, too! Meet Tate. Darling, perfect, precious, weeks-old Tate. It’s always a thrill for me to have the honor of watching families grow over the years. I couldn’t be happier for you, Blair and Jason. Congratulations again and thanks for letting me capture this special time in your lives for you.

Maxwell turns one

Love! What a great idea on Cindy’s part to bring these fun birthday balloons to Lincoln Park to celebrate her baby boy turning one. Max is just darling and the four of us had such a great time during our hour together. It was so nice to meet you, Cindy and Nathan. Congratulations on your baby turning into a toddler!
