The Littlest Sister

Family-Pumpkin-PortraitMike and I have some happy news to share with all of you. We are expecting baby girl #3! We are thrilled, but also very nervous, after having lost baby Hannah late term last year. Mike and I will never be able to completely relax or “feel safe” again. But we have taken great comfort in the normalcy of this pregnancy so far, and are reassured that the littlest sister appears to be healthy and growing well. She does not plug the hole left permanently in our hearts by Hannah. She cushions it with love, and surrounds it with hope. She breathes new life into our family and brings happiness to the new path we have found ourselves on. Eloise speaks for us all when she says, gleefully and on a daily basis, “I can’t wait for baby to come! I’m so excited!”

You all know me pretty well by now. Even though I’ve been honest and open about my family’s journey this past year, “going public” with news this personal and emotional was not easy. I’ve been nervous about it. But I also recognize how much love and support we have received from near and far over the past year. How comforting it has been, sharing our story.

Also…my 20-week baby bump is certainly starting to give us away. Awkward!

In all seriousness, Mike and I can’t thank everyone enough for lifting us up when we’ve needed it the most. Thank you for sharing in our happy news, and for tagging along as we take this leap of faith.

Cousins

Cousins-Blog-1I had a picture-perfect day to explore Montrose Harbor with these four adorable cousins last Sunday. We had a blast hanging out by the lake, exploring the nature walk, climbing trees, and finding cool leaves. Thanks for a great time, Sara, Brian, Nicole, and Nicholas! I am so happy to have been able to capture these sweet moments for your family.

Studio Mini Sessions

Last Saturday marked JSP’s first ever studio experience! I hosted mini sessions for 7 lovely families at my good friend Jenn Shaffer’s very cool Logan Square photography studio. And it was A BLAST. The kids were all in fantastic moods, and enjoyed playing around in the space. None of them wanted to leave at the end of our short time together. The feeling was mutual! I just love the fun energy in these photos. A great big thank you to all of my amazing clients for being early or right on time and for bringing their best smiles; to my mom for keeping me company and for making sure things ran smoothly; and to Jenn for letting us take over her space for the day. I’m so very excited about how this went, and already can’t wait to offer more mini sessions in the future.

2015 Goebbert’s Adventure

Goebberts-for-Web

Mike, Eloise, and I have had a great time at Goebbert’s Pumpkin Farm every year since Eloise was old enough to go. This year was no exception. We had a perfect fall day last Saturday afternoon for pony rides, bounce-houses, apple cider donuts, giant slides, feeding a giraffe and other exotic animals, train rides, and, of course, picking pumpkins. Thank you, Goebbert’s, for giving me so many gold stars this week! We will see you again next year!
